After many rumours have been bought to light over the past month about the development of the PlayStation Neo, I wanted to find out more about what gamers really are expecting from a new console release. Since the PlayStation 4 was released back in 2013, we have seen the biggest development in next generation gaming we have ever seen. With stunning graphical quality and expertly developed gameplay, we have never been more proud to hold a controller in our hands.
After many days of diving into my research for this article, I have learnt a lot about gamers’ current expectations, and from what I have gathered, enthusiast players think that a lot needs to change. Most of the feedback I have received calls for changes to higher frame rate in terms of video game quality, which is something I know many gamers have had problems with over the past couple of years. We have seen the biggest, hyped games fall off the shelves of the biggest retailers, yet still disappoint with frame rate issues. Although this is not the case for every next generation game that has been released, the development still needs to happen in order for gamers to be 100% happy with overall gameplay quality. Especially with a console that comes along with such a hefty price tag.
Another big issue has to be storage, which is something I have had an issue with since purchasing my PS4. The idea of pulling my PlayStation apart just to install a bigger storage medium is something I personally hate doing. Many players have called for bigger expandable storage with easier installation, preferably using a USB type connection. If only things were that simple.
Overall I think players are looking for something a little bit different, especially in terms of the console’s appearance and design. Many people have called for a slimmer, neater design which I think would set apart the PS4 system from the Neo. Release date’s and price tags are still undecided. However, details are expected to be announced within the next coming months.
