The latest Hearthstone expansion launches this April 6 with a ton of new features. The downloadable content (DLC) drop appears to be adding more than just cards to the game. The title will feature 135 new cards to the title and a new mechanic for players to use. Unfortunately, while assessing the new cards can be overwhelming, players now have to analyze the new “Adapt” keyword. Interestingly, gamers in a pinch can use this feature as a wildcard. The new feature lets players choose from one of three buffs when playing certain cards. The caveat is that the three buffs are randomly selected from a hidden list of 10 buffs. Moreover, this forces players to think as to which cards to keep, as its buffs can potentially win matches.
Players also have the opportunity to win more rewards with Quest cards. These cards cost only one mana to summon. Gamers receive quests upon using Quest cards. These are certain restrictions or objectives that have to be met within the match. Doing so will reward players with new cards or special features. However, Blizzard did not elaborate on the full extent of the new card type. Players who want to try the new cards for themselves can pre-order 50 card packs for $50. Gamers can also watch a livestream that features the update.
Hearthstone: Un’Goro in Warcraft Lore
It can be remembered that the Blizzard title has been quite a hit for WarCraft fans and card game enthusiasts. The game features straightforward mechanics and a wide array of cards. This opened the title for a lot of customization options, strategy, and deck building. Moreover, the new mechanic in Un’Goro will be adding to the competitive edge of some players.
Interestingly, the fans of the game have already speculated the Un’Goro DLC. This is courtesy of what appears to be an updated resume from voice actor Lani Minella. The Blizzard veteran has appeared in games such as StarCraft 2 (as Slivan, the Eternal Mother). Interestingly, she also voiced a few characters in Hearthstone, including the Arathi Weaponsmith. Moreover, her updated resume at the time said she may actually be working on the Un’Goro DLC.
Interestingly, the dinosaur motif of some cards are not just there for show. Blizzard has kept a lot of classic WarCraft themes in the game, and Un’Goro is no exception. Moreover, the thematic DLC update is set in the Un’Goro region. Interestingly, World of WarCraft fans will recognize some of the cards’ iconic design. Players can find the Un’Goro crater in the Southern Kalimdor region. The large Un’Goro volcano sits smack right in the middle of the region. The area is populated by a lot of fire elementals, and quite the impressive dinosaur population.
