Last year, the Xiaomi Mi Mix was a truly innovative handset. This year, Xiaomi further enhanced the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2, with even slimmer bezels and a lot of power under the hood. The brand new model already launched in China, and it will make its debut in India soon too. The Chinese company already sent out invites to the Indian media to a launch event that will take place on October 10. This will be the first Xiaomi flagship to launch in India after a rather long year since the last flagship Xiaomi launched in this region was the Xiaomi Mi 5.
It’s not quite clear at this point whether the Chinese smartphone manufacturer will launch the special edition of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 with the ceramic unibody or not. Eve base model looks great with the ceramic and metal combination. Even though it is a great-looking handset, the Mi Mix 2 doesn’t only impress with its design. Under the hood, it carries the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835ipset we’ve seen in the majority of the flagships that launched this year. The processor is combined with 6GB of RAM which will turn this handset into a really fast and powerful one. As for the internal storage, users will be able to choose between three storage options. The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 will become available with 64GB, 128GB or 256GB of flash storage. At these amounts of storage, it doesn’t even matter that the smartphone doesn’t feature a microSD card slot to allow users to further expand the storage of the device.
The 12MP camera seems to be a downgrade from last year’s 16MP sensor, however, the new model offers OIS, which compensates a little. On the front, users will find the same 5MP selfies snapper that the original Mi Mix had to offer. The battery of the new model is also smaller than the one of its predecessor. However, the screen also got smaller, so the smaller battery should be able to do the trick in this case. The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 offers Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity which is way faster than the last model’s Bluetooth 4.2. The new model runs Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box and it will probably receive the Android Oreo update too at some point.
We have no information regarding the pricing of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 in India. It’s safe to assume that it will be similar to the one in other markets. The handset is available for pre-order for prices starting at $567. Naturally, this goes up for larger storage variants. The launch event will take place in only five days, so customers in India will find out more about the pricing and availability of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 then.
