The Switch kicked up a pretty solid year-one lineup in 2017, giving owners of the console plenty of games to check out. While it’s gonna be tough for 2018 to match up, there’s already plenty of games lined up for release that should be solid. This one is a surprise announcement and definitely seems different compared to most other Switch games, as it’s a hack-and-slash called Castle of Heart.
Castle of Heart is developed by 7Levels Studio, who recently announced the game as being a Switch-exclusive. The side-scrolling hack-and-slash has a medieval aesthetic, as you control a knight as he has to battle through hazardous levels. A teaser trailer was released showing this off, which you can check out below.
Castle of Heart Teaser
The game has you controlling a cursed knight that has been turned to stone by an evil sorcerer. There are 20 levels split between four different environments for the player to traverse, with there being all matter of traps, enemies and other obstacles to overcome. The game certainly looks like it will be challenging, and overall just looks like it’s going to offer something that’s unique in the Switch library.
The unique mechanic at play here is that the knight’s stone body will disintegrate as he takes more damage, making him susceptible to losing body parts. You’ll need to keep the magic meter full to stop this from happening, which will be easier said than done.
It’s not going to be one of the longest games available for Switch, with the overall gameplay time being listed at around 7 hours. There will also be HD Rumble support for the Joy-Con controllers, for those looking for a more immersive experience.
Castle of Heart does not currently have a concrete release date, but it is slated for a Q1 2018 release.
