The Silent Hill series is one that gamers think about now with mixed feelings, as it will forever be tarnished by the P.T. fiasco. Hideo Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro were working on the next game in the series (Silent Hills), and the tease we got with P.T. was incredibly promising. Of course, Konami screwed all of that up, and now the series’ future is in doubt. Now it’s up to other games to carry on the proverbial torch, and it looks like the just-announced Those Who Remain may be able to do just that.
The game is being developed by Camel 101 and is described as a psychological horror-thriller set within a creepy town called Dormont. Players control a man named Edward Turner, who wanders into the town while trying to escape his troubled past. Of course, what lies in wait for him is horrific, and now he must fight to survive.
The big gameplay twist here is that Edward must do what he can to remain in the light, because trouble comes when he fails to do that. There is also a mirror world of Dormont that Edward will need to utilize in order to progress through the game, and it is this version of Dormont that is truly dangerous. You can check out the announcement trailer at the bottom of this post to get a taste of what is to come for yourself.
Those Who Remain is in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. The game does not currently have a concrete release date, but it is targeting a 2018 release. Be sure to check out the announcement trailer below.
