The Absolver website has finally been updated to include a beta registration option, allowing gamers a shot to check the game out during upcoming testing phases. You may sign up for it through the official site here. In the game players will take on the role of a Prospect, who joins the Absolvers to protect and maintain stability throughout the world. Your goal is to venture out into the game’s world and encounter other Prospects, all in an effort to learn and eventually become Absolvers.
Absolver is a fighting action RPG adventure with many MMORPG elements to it. The way players phase into the world works similar to Destiny and Defiance, giving players the option to trade, co-op or fight competitively against each other. The online aspect of the game is unique because there is no way to know if a player you see is there to help you or hinder you. A player that is seemingly eager to help can just as easily stab you in the back if you’re not careful.
It also mixes mechanics from fighting games into the progression and leveling of an Action RPG. The combat functions in real-time, with the player being rewarded for flowing together combos and attacks. Players will progress through the world and level up to add points to new fighting techniques, combos and different fighting styles. The combat upgrades are deep, and everything from your unique attacks to even the stances of the character are customizable.
Absolver was revealed in an announcement trailer in May of last year and was then later shown at PSX in December. The developer has gone silent since, but its exciting to hear that the beta is finally open for registration. The game does not currently have a solid release date, but will launch at some point this year for PC and PlayStation 4. The game will also be coming to Xbox One, but the developer claims that it’s the small size of their studio that is the cause of the delay on that platform.
