OnePlus definitely impressed a lot of people in the past few years. The flagship killers keep rolling out every year and the next one in line is the OnePlus 6. A OnePlus 6T will probably come along in the fall too and some people think that we might get to see another OnePlus X-series device too this year. There might be months to go until its official launch, even so, information regarding the OnePlus 6 already surfaced. Thanks to leaks coming from different sources, we now have a pretty clear picture of what the OnePlus 6 will be like and how much it will cost.
First of all, the design of the OnePlus 6 will be quite different from the design of the OnePlus 5. The OnePlus 5T already had a design change and the OnePlus 6 will take things even further. Last year, every smartphone seemed to adopt the 18:9 aspect ratio and really thin bezels. This year, the camera notch seems to be the guiding line. Many smartphones with iPhone X-like camera notches already launched and the OnePlus 6 probably won’t be an exception from the rule either. The handset will most likely keep its thin bezels, 18:9 aspect ratio and it will feature a camera notch on the top of the 6.28-inch AMOLED display. The dual rear camera setup will also have a new positioning. Last year’s OnePlus 5T’s cameras were in the upper corner of the back cover. The OnePlus 6’s cameras will be in the center of the back cover instead.
Under the hood, the OnePlus 6 will definitely carry a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset. According to the latest rumors, the smartphone will include 6GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage. Previous leaks also suggested there will be a 256GB storage variant. It’s unclear yet whether users will have the possibility to opt for a 64GB variant too or there will be only two options to choose from. The OnePlus 5T also became available with 8GB of RAM so there is a high chance that the OnePlus 6 will also come in this memory variant.
As for the cameras, the primary rear setup will reportedly consist of a 16MP sensor and a 20MP one. As a matter of fact, the camera setup might actually be exactly the same as the one on the OnePlus 5T that launched last November. On the front, there will be a 20MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture. The cameras will most likely have AI features that will improve the user experience. The battery of the upcoming OnePlus 6 will be a little larger than the one of its predecessor. The OnePlus 5T comes with a 3,300mAh battery. The energy pack of the OnePlus 6 could be a 3,450mAh one, according to the latest reports.
Unfortunately, it seems that the OnePlus 6 will be a tad more expensive than its predecessor was. The information regarding the pricing of the handset surfaced a few days back. The next-generation OnePlus 6 including 256GB internal storage could have a $749 price tag, which translates into around €610. The base model will definitely be more affordable, but even so, it might be a little more expensive than the current model. Of course, compared to other flagships, like the Samsung Galaxy S9 or the upcoming Apple devices, the price of the OnePlus 6 is not unreasonably high.
The OnePlus 5 launched in June, just like the OnePlus 3. Based on this, it’s safe to assume that the Chinese company will announce the OnePlus 6 in June too. A few months after, we can expect the OnePlus 6T to launch, with some improvements over the original model. There still are a few months to go until the official unveiling of the OnePlus 6. We will definitely hear more about the upcoming device before then.
