Xiaomi released the Mi Mix last year, and it proved to be a success. Now, the Chinese company is bringing the bezel- less design back in the form of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2. According to the company’s CEO, Lei Jun, the device has entered mass production recently. It seems like the new bezel- less handset will launch on September 11, just one day before Apple will unveil the long- expected iPhone 8. Even though it is quite hard to imagine, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 will actually have slimmer bezels than its predecessor did. As you probably recall, the previous model already had really slim bezels, so the ones on the upcoming handset will be almost invisible.
Lei Jun also shared a couple of images depicting the retail box of the upcoming bezel- less smartphone. The packaging is simple, yet elegant, and it’s highly likely that the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 will be the same. The new model will probably maintain the same 17:9 aspect ratio we’ve seen in the original Xiaomi Mi Mix. Last year, this feature caused some troubles as Google had to implement special support for this aspect ratio. The tech giant normally prefers 16:9 screens, but thanks to the additional support, Android works just fine on the 17:9 screen of the Mi Mix too. It will also work just fine on the Mi Mix 2.
If we are to believe the rumors, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 will sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 836 chipset, a bezel- less 6-inch display and a huge, 4500mAh battery. Also, rumor has it that the upcoming Xiaomi device will run Android Oreo out of the box. Of course, none of this information was confirmed by the company. Some rumors will probably prove to be accurate, others will not. There is only one week to wait until we find out everything there is to know about one of the most impressive- looking handsets of this year.
