Rocket League will get another downloadable content (DLC) pack in the form of a crossover update. This time, the content drop will have celebrity cars from another popular franchise. The game will now feature the iconic Ice Charger from The Fate of the Furious. The film will be the eighth Fast title, and will hit theaters in April 14. The DLC also marks the partnership between game developer Psyonix, film distributor Universal Pictures, and automaker Dodge.
The Ice Charger is Dominic Toretto’s (Vin Diesel) Dodge Charger in the film. Car enthusiasts can see this car right at the end in the film’s final trailer as it leaps over a submarine. Fans can get the vehicle as a premium Battle-Car for US$1.99. It also comes with its exclusive wheels and six sets of decals. These include the CCCXL, Clean Cut, Crazy Sandwich, Flames and Rakugaki. It was not revealed if more Furious cars will be in the game, or if Dodge will release more vehicles in the title. Regardless, players can view the Ice Charger in the update’s official trailer.
Rocket League DLC: Previous, Potential Crossovers
Interestingly, this is not the first time Rocket League has featured cars from famous films. The game featured the famous time-traveling DeLorean in its Back to the Future DLC. This happened just months after its July 2015 release. The title also had Bruce Wayne’s Batmobile to coincide with the release of Batman v Superman. It may be interesting to see just what sort of vehicles may arrive in the popular vehicular soccer franchise. If the point of consideration will be “popular car franchises,” then a lot may be coming up with crossover material.
For instance, the game may feature Lightning McQueen from the upcoming Cars 3 film. The movie will offer a wide variety of concept cars, all budding with potential. Other popular cars include the Lego Batman Batmobile, and even KITT from Knight Rider. Regardless, Psyonix has a lot of new cars to choose from given the game’s rather crazy yet effective gameplay mechanics. After all, if it comes to soccer with rocket-powered cars, anything appears possible.
The game is a combination of soccer and demolition derby. Cars have the basic objective of hitting the goal of the opposing team with a ridiculously large ball. However, they have access to speed boosts and the ability to destroy other vehicles. The title’s DLCs eventually included more cars, a competitive mode, and a training mode. It may be interesting to wait for what sort of updates the game may have after the Fast crossover. Regardless, fans of Rocket League can get the Ice Charger and the new decals this April 4, 2017.
