Nintendo has released some quality titles for the Switch, but some of their biggest hitters have yet to even step up to the plate. Next month will see the release of Super Mario Odyssey, but another major game has been set to launch by the end of this year that doesn’t currently have a release date. The game is Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and a retailer may have just let slip when the game will come out.
The listing leak comes from the Spanish retailer MediaMarkt, which claims that the game will launch on December 15th. This is definitely a possibility considering that date falls on a Friday, and the last game in the series also launched around the same time in December. We have to keep in mind that this is by no means the official release date, as we’re still waiting on the announcement from Nintendo to set this in stone.
The following is a description of Xenoblade Chronicles 2:
“Search for the ultimate paradise, Elysium, with your companion, Pyra.
Explore an endless ocean of clouds, where the last remnants of civilization live on the backs of colossal beasts called Titans. Experience the story of Rex and his new friend, Pyra, a mysterious being known as a Blade who grants him tremendous power. Together, search for Pyra’s long lost home Elysium, the ultimate paradise for all of humanity.”
Nintendo originally revealed Xenoblade Chronicles 2 at the beginning of this year, which was an announcement that was warmly welcomed by many. Despite not being on the legendary status level of the likes of Mario and Zelda, the Xenoblade series has nevertheless quickly become one of the biggest and best exclusives that Nintendo has. The original game launched for the Wii in 2012, which was then followed by Xenoblade Chronicles X for the Wii U in 2015. Both games were very well-received, and the buzz for the next game seems to suggest that the high praises will continue.
We’ll be sure to keep you updated on the official release date announcement from Nintendo for Xenoblade Chronicles 2, thought it remains to be seen when they might actually make the announcement. Seeing as they have confirmed over and over that the game will launch this year, it stands to reason that an announcement would be coming sometime in the near future.
