Square Enix has revealed that a new version of Final Fantasy 15 is in development, which is called Final Fantasy 15 Pocket Edition. This version of the game is essentially a simplified version of the game that features a chibi art style, and is currently set to launch for iOS, Android and Windows 10 devices this fall.
The game will retell the events of the original version of the game through 10 chapters, and will feature a revamped battle system. Many of the features that were present in the original game are expected to make the jump to the mobile version, such as fishing, cooking and exploring the game’s world. The game will of course utilize touch controls, and will be presented in a way that is more friendly to the mobile gaming style.
The barrier to entry for this game is low, as the first episode is going to be available to download and play for free. The rest of the episodes will be treated as in-app purchases, though pricing for each episode has not yet been revealed by the publisher. We’ll be sure to fill you in on those details as soon as they become available.
The world of Final Fantasy 15 continues to expand with the announcement of this game, as there are several others on the horizon that will be joining it. We learned recently that a PC version of the game will be launching early next year with many enhancements, and there’s also the likes of King’s Knight: Wrath of the Dark Dragon and Monster of the Deep: Final Fantasy XV. That doesn’t even include the rest of the DLC that is in the works for the original game, which includes the Episode Ignis story DLC and the Comrades multiplayer DLC.
We’re still waiting on an official release date for Final Fantasy 15 Pocket Edition, but you can check out the announcement trailer below in the meantime.
