The Professor Layton series has been a very successful one for Nintendo, originally starting with the DS and continuing over into the 3DS over numerous installments. However, the next installment in the series is set to be pretty different from the previous games, as players won’t be controlling Professor Layton at all. It’s a risky move, but it looks like the game turned out well.
This is judging by the latest issue of Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, which just released its latest batch of game review scores. Among the many games that were scored is Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires’ Conspiracy, and it got a very solid score. It received a 34/40 overall, which breaks down to a 9, 9, 8 and 8 from the four judges. That’s a very respectable score, especially considering that this game ditches the main character entirely.
The following is the complete list of games that Famitsu scored in issue 1493:
- Cars 3: Driven to Win (PS4) – 8/8/8/8 [32/40]
- Cars 3: Driven to Win (Switch) – 8/8/8/8 [32/40]

Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires’ Conspiracy will be releasing a little differently compared to the other games in the series, as it will launch for iOS and Android first before coming to 3DS.
