Jimmi Simpson, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, John C. Reilly and Bebe Neuwirth lead the ensemble for the stop-motion series.
AMC has lined up a big-name voice cast for its animated series Ultra City Smiths.
Jimmi Simpson (Westworld), Da’Vine Joy Randolph (Empire, High Fidelity), John C. Reilly (Ralph Breaks the Internet) and Bebe Neuwirth (Madam Secretary) head the ensemble for the stop-motion series, which plays out a murder mystery using baby dolls repurposed as a grown-up cast of characters. The cast also includes Jason Mantzoukas, Damon Herriman, Melissa Villaseñor, Kurtwood Smith, Tim Heidecker, Chris Conrad and Hana Mae Lee.
Steve Conrad (Amazon’s Patriot, Epix’s Perpetual Grace Ltd.) serves as showrunner. AMC Studios and Stoopid Buddy Stoodios (Robot Chicken) are producing the series.
“We have been very grateful to partner with actors whose talents are as unique, expressive and affecting as the world we all hope to have created in Ultra City and the stories that are found there,” said Steve Conrad.
Formerly titled Mega City Smiths, the series centers on an investigation into the disappearance of Ultra City’s most famous magnate (Reilly). Two detectives (Simpson and Randolph) assigned to the case fight against the city’s corruption and threats to themselves and their families. And once again, the characters are stop motion-animated baby dolls.
Steve Conrad executive produces with Seth Green, John Harvatine IV, Matthew Senreich, Eric Towner and Chris Waters of Stoopid Buddy, Jennifer Scher, Jeff Dieter and Thomas J. Glynn.
Chris Conrad is repped by Industry Entertainment and Derek Kroeger; Heidecker by UTA and Rise Management; Herriman is by APA, Art/Work Entertainment, and LMCM in Australia; Lee by Thirty Three Management, Vox and Barry Littman; Mantzoukas by Rise Management, UTA and Morris Yorn; Neuwirth by ICM Partners; Randolph by Lighthouse Entertainment and Paradigm; Reilly by WME and Framework Entertainment; Simpson by Industry Entertainment, ICM Partners and Bruce Gelman; Smith by Imperium 7 Talent Agency and Pop Art Management; and Villaseñor by WME, Compound Management and Cohen Gardner.
