The original designer of Star Fox and F-Zero is working on a new game as a freelancer.
Takaya Imamura, who spent three decades working for Nintendo until leaving last year, announced and published Omega 6, his first manga, this week. For the time being, it is only available for purchase in French.
Imamura revealed shortly after the news that a video game version, titled Omega 6 The Video Game, is being created by the Japanese studio Happy Meal with a 2023 Nintendo Switch release date in mind.
The video game adaptation, according to the Japanese website 4gamer, will be a straightforward text adventure game with the addition of certain battle scenes that players can manage. A unique narrative based on the manga will be included in the game.
The primary characters of the Omega 6 manga, Thunder and Kaira, are bounty hunters who explore space in quest of a replacement planet for Earth.
Imamura is credited with designing the Starfox characters Fox McCloud, Falco Lombardi, and other characters, as well as Captain Falcon from F-Zero and the Majora’s Mask cast, including fan favorite Tingle, in his previous position at Nintendo.
Fox was said to have been based on Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto, Falco was based on artist Tsuyoshi Watanabe, and Tingle is said to have been based on legendary composer Koji Kondo. The artist is famous for basing his creations on his Nintendo development colleagues.
Star Fox Zero, his most recent game, was developed by PlatinumGames and the Bayonetta studio in 2016.
