With Pokemon Sun and Moon coming out soon, and all this news surrounding it, it’s time to gear up and prepare for the release. When Sun and Moon come out in November, you want to be as prepared as possible. Alright trainers, let’s go over some of the best challenge runs you can do in a playthrough for any of the Pokemon games. You can even start off with one of these challenges when you get Pokemon Sun or Moon. These challenges are in no particular order of difficulty or most fun.
1. The Type Specialist – This one is simple, the rule is to pick a type and you can only use that type (just like Misty). For example, if you pick Water, you can only use Water-type Pokemon. You can even take this a step further and specifically use Pokemon that are ONLY Water-type. So you would not be able to use a Water/Dark type, like Sharpedo. You may use Pokemon outside of Water-type for HMs, but you can not battle with them.
2. The Starter/Solo Challenge – Also a simple challenge. You can only use your starter or the first Pokemon you catch. You can use other Pokemon for HM reasons, but again, no battling with them.
3. No Pokemart Challenge – This one can be a bit tough. The one rule is, you can not buy anything from any vendors. The only items you can use are the ones that you find or the ones that are given to you. This can lead to many problems when Pokemon on your team start getting poisoned and paralyzed. This also causes you to be extremely reserved with your items, especially Pokeballs.
4. No Pokemon Center Challenge – Similar to the no Pokemart challenge, except you can not use Pokemon Centers. This causes you to only use items to heal your Pokemon, forcing you to spend your money. Usually by the end of the game, you can accumulate a large sum of money on a regular playthrough. Not with this challenge run, and it’s a pretty hard one to accomplish.
5. The Baby Run – You can not evolve any of your Pokemon. This one is my personal favorite. To amp this up even more, try doing a Solo Baby Run Challenge.
6. The Nuzlocke Challenge – The most famous challenge run to do in Pokemon. Rule #1. You can only capture the first Pokemon you encounter in a new area. If you fail to capture it, too bad. You lost your chance and you can not capture a new one. Rule #2. If a Pokemon faints, it is considered dead and you must release it. Rule #3. This rule is not mandatory, but it is highly recommended. You must nickname every Pokemon you catch.
That’s it. The hardest one on this list is probably the Nuzlocke challenge. Not only is it just a hard run to beat, but it also hits you pretty hard in the feels if you lose a Pokemon that you really liked. Although, a baby solo run challenge is pretty difficult as well. Give one of these challenges a go, especially if you’re an experienced trainer. Pokemon tends to get a bit too easy for people that have been playing for years, so spice up the game a bit and challenge yourself.
