Nintendo has finally revealed some long-awaited information about its expansion pass for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
The first expansion, titled DLC Pack 1, is chalk full of content and is set to release this summer. The first addition to the game features a new challenge called Trial of the Sword, which is a mode where you will start off without any weapons or armor and enemies will appear that need to be defeated before entering the next room. There are a total of 45 rooms to complete, and if all are completed the Master Sword will receive an upgrade and will always retain its fully powered up status regardless if the player is within Ganon’s castle or not.
The next addition is Hard Mode, a mode that I personally have been waiting for since purchasing the game. This mode will make enemies much more difficult and will actually add enemies that weren’t encountered in the game in its regular difficulty. Enemies will also regenerate health as well as spot Link from further away and easier.
Hero’s Path mode is another addition to the game that will track where the player has been for the last 200 hours of gameplay. The mode makes it much easier to be able to see where you have been in game as well as help you track down some of the Shrines and Korok challenges that you may not have completed before.
The expansion also features some new equipment including the Korok mask and the travel medallion. The Korok mask allows you to track down nearby Korok seeds more easily which will more than likely come as a huge relief to a lot of people who are hoping for 100% completion of the game. The Travel Medallion will allow you to pick any spot on the map and make it a fast travel location that will allow you to travel there and back at any time, only one travel spot may be chosen at a time.
The second expansion for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is due out in holiday 2017 and Nintendo has yet to reveal any new details about it.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild released alongside the Nintendo Switch in March and has received massive critical acclaim, and is by far the best selling game on the Nintendo Switch console.
