Gamespot announced a huge sale for backward compatible games on the Xbox One. The rumor is that over 275+ games will be on sale. Some of the games that are being promoted are Red Dead Redemption, Call of Duty: Black Ops II and Grand Theft Auto IV.
It’s rumored that this could be part of being a member of Xbox Gold. However, this could not be the case since there could be over 200 games on sale. Xbox Gold never has that many games on sale for their members.
OPINION TIME
The one area that I always felt could help the Xbox One in sales was the backwards compatibility. This is something, in my opinion, that is more important now than it’s ever been. While games weren’t overly expensive with the last generation, it gives reason to hold on to these games. Especially games that will never receive a remastered or whatever version they are calling it.
A good example of this is Ghostbusters: The Video Game, which was released in 2009. This is a game that will never receive an upgrade. While you can play on a PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, at this point why should you? It should be more preferable to be able to pack up the old system, because you can play the older games on your current console.
This could also be a great opportunity to play games that you missed. While some games have already been revealed, I would have to think other games would be available like the Mass Effect Trilogy. If you never played those games, I would highly recommend.
Will I buy any games? I honestly won’t know until I see the library. I’ve kept many of my Xbox 360 games, but there are still many I would like. Here’s hoping Rockstar’s Bully will be there.
