A new rumor is swirling around the internet due to a new listing on Amazon France, which may have just released some new information regarding amiibo functionality in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD. The information was pulled from the retailer soon after it was released, which is more than likely due to the fact that the information is true and they were informed that they were not authorized to post it yet. Thus, the internet is now doing everything they can to find out more about this rumor and whether or not Nintendo will confirm or deny it.
The rumor has to do with the Wolf Link amiibo functionality for The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD, which is set to launch later this year exclusively for the Wii U. The listing claims that the Wolf Link amiibo will unlock a brand new dungeon within the game called The Cave of Twilight, which certainly sounds like an area that could be featured within the game. The game will also feature a hero mode and inventory management through the Wii U gamepad.
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD is set to launch for the Wii U on March 4 and will cost $59.99 for the limited edition that includes the Wolf Link amiibo. The original Twilight Princess launched for the Wii in November 2006 before the GameCube version launched a month later. It remains the last main game in the series to not feature cell-shaded graphics and a much darker tone compared to the games that followed it.
While the release for Twilight Princess HD is coming soon, we still do not have a concrete release date for the upcoming The Legend of Zelda Wii U. The game was originally set to launch by the end of 2015 before Nintendo announced that they were no longer targeting that release window, and all information regarding the game has been very slim since then. Some have speculated that the lack of information could be due to the fact that Nintendo is retooling the game to be a launch title for the NX while also releasing it for the Wii U, similar to how they released Twilight Princess between Wii and GameCube.
