There still are a few days to go until the big HTC launch event where we will finally get to see the HTC U11 Life and the HTC U11 Plus. Even so, T-Mobile got ahead of itself and already listed the HTC U11 Life, giving out all the details about the handset. Naturally, the listing is now unavailable on the carrier’s website, however, they didn’t take it down fast enough and some vigilant techies managed to take a screenshot of it. The listing does confirm some previous rumors, however, it refutes others.
The HTC U11 Life will look exactly like everyone was expecting it to look, so there is no surprise here. Unfortunately, there is an unpleasant surprise in the software section. While everyone thought that the HTC U11 Life will be an Android one device and will run Android oreo out of the box, it seems it won’t be the case. The smartphone will run Android Nougat with HTC Sense instead, and there is no mentioning of Android One in the listing. Of course, it could get the Android Oreo upgrade sometime soon, but that still won’t be stock Android as many hoped for.
The rumors regarding the hardware of the smartphone proved to be accurate. The HTC U11 Life will indeed sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 chipset and it will include 3GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage. Users will be able to add up to 2TB of extra storage to the handset thanks to its microSDXC card support. The smartphone will feature Edge Sense, Google Assistant, and Amazon Alexa. It is water and dust resistant, which is great, and it features two 16MP cameras. One of them will be on the back, while the other will be on the front, for video calls and selfies. The smartphone will also feature a 2,600mAh battery.
While the listing did reveal every spec and feature of the handset, it didn’t reveal its price. Previous rumors suggested that the HTC U11 Life will go on sale for €369. This could be an accurate rumor or it could prove to be wrong. There are only two more days to go until the official launch of the smartphone. Then we will probably find out everything there is to know about the HTC U11 Life and its more powerful sibling, the HTC U11 Plus.
