Now that the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is finally out, everyone can wait for the iPhone 8 to launch. It will most likely arrive sometime next month, alongside the iPhone 7s and the iPhone 7s Plus. Or at least, that is what people are saying. We do know that this model will mark the tenth anniversary of the iPhone, so it will be a special one. It will finally bring on the design change we were all waiting for. We must admit that even though we did like iPhones before, their design began to be a little boring. The major change promised by the upcoming flagship model is more than welcome. However, it seems that the design won’t be the only one to change.
Of course, there will be a brand new processor under the hood. This time around, it will be Apple’s A11 processor that should normally be faster and more efficient than the previous version. Naturally, the new handset will run a newer version of iOS too. We’ve already heard a lot about the iOS 11 and its brand new features. It definitely seems to be an interesting operating system with some thrilling new features and, of course, the old ones every iPhone user loved, only in a new coat. Even so, these aren’t the only changes that the iPhone 8 will bring along.
According to a leak coming from China, the upcoming Apple flagship will actually come with double the storage of the current model. To be more exact, instead of getting a smartphone with 32GB, 128GB, or 256GB of internal storage, the new iPhone will come in 64GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage versions. To be honest, this seems to be quite a big change, especially since a few generations ago, the iPhone was still available with 16GB of native storage. The jump to 512GB of storage is quite a big one. This is why we are not sure just how credible this rumor is.
According to the same source, two of the storage chips, the 64GB, and the 256GB ones will be manufactured by Sandisk and Toshiba. The third, huge one, will reportedly come from Samsung and Hynix. The source even posted a picture showing the 64GB chip made by Sandisk. However, this is not exactly enough to confirm such a rumor. Apple is known for its consistency in specs. Doubling what it previously offered seems to be a little too much. Previous rumors also suggested that Apple’s front and back cameras will both support 4K video at 60fps. Offering this many changes in one model just seems to be unlikely.
Even so, it would be nice to have these storage options when the iPhone 8 will finally launch. It seems that all versions will include 3GB of RAM. This is already a step up from the 2GB or memory previously found in the iPhone 7. Of course, even more memory would have been nice too. And a larger battery, that would easily take users through the day. Thankfully, the new model will at least feature wireless charging, so users can more comfortably charge it over the day at the office, for example. Overall, the iPhone 8 seems to be a great device with a lot to offer. Even though we are a little skeptic regarding the credibility of the source who stated Apple will double the storage of the handset, we hope it will prove to be an accurate information.
