On August 21, Google finally announced its latest operating system, the Android 8 Oreo. Only hours later, the company started pushing out the update. Naturally, the first devices to get it are the ones that are part of the Android beta program. Those who are running the latest version of the Developer Preview also got the OTA update. Unfortunately, not everyone can install the new software without any troubles. According to some Pixel users running Developer Preview 4, their handsets failed to install the update. If we are to believe Google, they already fixed this issue, however.
Just like any other operating system, the Android 8 Oreo will reach smartphones in several stages. As we already stated, the first ones to receive the new software will be the ones in the Android Beta program. Google’s handsets, the Pixel, and the Pixel XL also get the long-awaited Oreo. According to reports, the Nexus 6P and the Nexus 5X are on the short list of the handsets to first welcome the new operating system too. It’s safe to say that flagship smartphones from several manufacturers will get the new software soon. The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus could be among the first handsets to welcome the Oreo superhero.
The Android 8 Oreo comes with several new features, all meant to improve the user experience for Android fans. Some new features make using smartphones a lot easier or quicker. Others are simply there to make the experience more fun. For now, it seems that the Oreo will be at least as great to use as its predecessor. The new software will eventually reach the majority of handsets that were released in the past couple of years, so everyone will get their chance to try it out. It will reach some models later than others, and it will probably take several months until Google will manage to push the update out to all of the handsets that will be able to support it.
