It’s been more than two years since we’ve first heard about the Samsung Galaxy X foldable smartphone. At first, we got very excited, then it seemed that it won’t become reality anytime soon. Now, the handset resurfaced and it got its Bluetooth certification from the Bluetooth SIG. The model that appeared on the Bluetooth certification website has number SM-G888N0. It may be another model, however, chances are high that this is, in fact, the Samsung Galaxy X foldable smartphone. One thing is certain: the model that got its Bluetooth certification is the first in its lineup. The model number doesn’t match any existing Samsung series.
If the new model is indeed the Samsung Galaxy X foldable smartphone, then it’s safe to assume that its launch is approaching. The same model number already got its WiFi certification, so it might be really close to becoming reality. The listing shows that the new handset will offer Bluetooth 4.2, so it’s safe to say that it won’t be a true flagship smartphone. Flagships nowadays seem to ship with the faster Bluetooth 5.0 on board. Then again, it could have a really powerful processor, even if it doesn’t offer the fastest version of Bluetooth. Also, it is possible that at the time of its launch, it will support the newer version of Bluetooth.
The key feature of the Samsung Galaxy X foldable smartphone will be its flexible screen. Due to this feature, we could get one huge screen that will feel like a normal one when folded or a small handset that will unfold into a normal size. Given the tendency of smartphone manufacturers to deliver large handsets, I would bet on the first variant, with the huge screen. Either way, this will truly be an innovative handset as none of the existing ones are this flexible.
The new model will probably launch just before the end of this year or in the first part of 2018. We are eager to see what specs and features it will have. Also, we are curious to see whether it will become a very popular model or users will stick to their regular smartphones instead.
