The Sharp AQUOS S2 will launch on August 8. Ahead of the official announcement, we get a glimpse of the handset and it looks quite familiar. The 105 Limited Edition smartphone looks a lot like the Essential Phone, at least in the front. The upcoming Sharp smartphone has the same bezel- less display with the cut- out for the secondary camera. Also, it seems that the Sharp handset will feature an under-glass fingerprint sensor. Other smartphone manufacturers tried to deliver the same feature but failed to do so until this moment.
A leaked render of the handset shows the back of the device too. There will be a vertical dual rear camera setup and a flashlight, similar to what we expect the iPhone 8 to sport. Basically, the Sharp AQUOS S2 will remind us of the Essential phone on the front and of the iPhone 8 in the back. Thankfully, it doesn’t copy the color variants of these handsets too, so we will be able to tell them apart from each other at first glance. Even though the leaked render shows us a truly bezel-less handset, real- life leaked images of the smartphone show a rather thick bezel at the bottom of the handset. It’s hard to say which version shows the final product.
According to an invite that surfaced on the internet, the launch event will take place on August 8. There are only a few days to go until then, so we will find out soon what the Sharp AQUOS S2 will actually be like. Hopefully, it will look more like the render and less like the other images that pretend to show the handset in all its glory. It would also be nice for the Sharp AQUOS S2 to come with some really powerful specs. Sharp didn’t confirm any of the upcoming smartphone’s specs and features yet.
