LG is going to launch the V30 before the end of the summer but this doesn’t mean it’s not working on other models too. The company just launched the LG Q8, which is basically a smaller version of last year’s LG V20. Thankfully, the LG Q8 also fixes everything that was wrong with the V20 and keeps its best features at the same time. This way, users will be able to enjoy the best the V20 had to offer and then some. First of all, the Q8 is smaller, so it’s easier to handle. It is also waterproof, so that problem is solved too.
At first sight, the LG Q8 looks a lot like the V20. It features the same secondary screen and the dual camera setup on the back. However, this time around the metal body of the handset is IP67 rated, so it is waterproof. Also, the screen is smaller. The Q8 comes with a 5.2-inch QHD display instead of the V20’s 5.7-inch screen. One thing that changed and not for the best is the battery. Instead of being a removable one, the 3,300 energy pack of the Q8 is a built- in one. The new handset runs on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.
Under the hood, the LG Q8 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset. It is not as powerful as the Snapdragon 821 in the LG G6, but it is definitely better than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 the Q6 comes with. The smartphone includes 4GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage. In case this is not enough, users can add extra storage thanks to the microSD card slot of the handset. The LG Q8 features a dual rear camera setup consisting of a 13MP sensor and an 8MP wide- angle shooter. The Q8 also features a 5MP selfies camera, just near the secondary screen.
Basically, the LG Q8 is a high- grade mid-range handset. It’s not quite as powerful as flagship smartphones are but it definitely is one of the best mid- rangers one can hope for. It’s not clear yet how much it will cost. In case it will be really affordable, it could even be a better choice than the LG G6 for some. It is definitely the better option when compared to the LG V20. The V30 will be more powerful but then again, it will also be more expensive, that’s for sure.
We don’t know yet when and where the LG Q8 will become available for purchase. The company just announced it so there certainly will be another few weeks before the handset lands in stores. Then we will find out more about its pricing and availability. We will keep you in the loop and let you know as soon as we find out more about the matter.
