Samsung announced two new Chromebook devices back in January: the Chromebook plus and the Samsung Chromebook Pro. While the first one is available for purchase since February, the Chromebook Pro was a no-show. Samsung didn’t really offer any information regarding the release date of the gadget. Now, it seems we have one. It’s not an official release date, but according to Amazon, the convertible laptop will start shipping on May 28. It might not be an official information, but at least now we have a good idea of when the laptop will become available. Amazon doesn’t usually misguide its customers with this kind of information, so we hope they are right this time too.
The Samsung Chromebook Pro is the more powerful device from the duo unveiled at the CES 2017. It looks a lot like its sibling, but under the hood, it houses a more powerful processor. Instead of the Plus’s ARM-based OP1 processor, the Samsung Chromebook Pro features an Intel Core m3 chipset. Just like the Chromebook Plus, the Pro includes 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. It has a 12.3-inch display with a 2400×1600 resolution, and it supports Samsung’s own S Pen.
According to reports, Samsung has delayed the release of the Samsung Chromebook Pro due to some issues regarding the supports for Android apps. Even though the Plus had the same feature, it proved to be less than fantastic. Given the fact that the Samsung Chromebook Pro should be the flagship Chromebook of the company, they couldn’t release the product before perfecting all its features. Now that Amazon finally announced a release date for the gadget, it’s safe to assume that Samsung managed to address the problem and figured out a way to solve it. Just how well they managed to do it, we’ll see after May 28. That is if the convertible laptop will actually start shipping then.
In case you don’t want to wait any longer to purchase it, you can pre-order the Samsung Chromebook Pro on Amazon for $549.99. It is only available in black at this point, so you won’t get to choose your favorite color variant, unfortunately.
