There are a few new trends noticeable lately when it comes to smartphones. High-end handsets aim to deliver devices with AI assistants and innovative designs. Chinese phone manufacturers, on the other hand, seem to focus on recreating the Xiaomi Mi Mix over and over again. The BLUBOO S1 is the latest smartphone to join the bezel-less team. In terms of design, it is quite obvious that it looks quite a lot like the 2016 Xiaomi Mi Mix. It has the same extra-slim bezels on the sides and on the upper part, while it keeps the wider bezel on the lower part.
However, there is one big difference between the Xiaomi Mi Mix and the BLUBOO S1. While the Xiaomi device has a $550price tag, the BLUBOO S1 will reportedly only cost $150. This is quite a big difference in price. However, the low price comes with a compromise on specs. The BLUBOO S1 won’t offer the same features as the Mi Mix did back in late 2016. Even so, it promises to be a nice mid-range smartphone with a decent specs sheet.
The BLUBOO S1 bezel-less smartphone will sport a MediaTek Helio P25 chipset and it will include 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. We don’t know yet how large the battery of the handset will be, but we do know that the S1 will feature a dual rear camera setup. This will offer a 16MP lens and a 3MP one. The two of them combined should ba able to capture great images. The handset will also feature a fingerprint sensor placed on the front cover, under the home button. This feature explains the presence of the bezel on the lower part of the device.
The BLUBOO S1 will launch in June, so we will find out more about the device soon. At first sight, it seems to be a nice budget phone, even though it isn’t exactly a unique one. On the other hand, budget phones rarely are unique.
