Microsoft has decided to keep the suspense alive by not revealing the names of the four first-party titles it will be bringing to the PS5. These titles won’t be available on other platforms like PlayStation and Nintendo Switch, as they are exclusive to Xbox and PC for now. Xbox executive Phil Spencer, on the other hand, has taken note of the triumph of Helldivers 2 and is finding it difficult to understand why the PlayStation-exclusive shooter is not accessible on Xbox.
“I must admit, when I analyze a game such as Helldivers 2, which is undeniably impressive, I must commend the team for successfully releasing it on PC and PlayStation. I find myself questioning the potential missed opportunities by not including Xbox in its platform availability,” he expressed to journalist Stephen Totilo’s Game File. “If you attempt to contort your words in a way that suggests any sort of benefit to anyone,”
Spencer acknowledged the significant influence of console gaming’s legacy, which has shaped the belief among platform holders that they can maximize their gains by exclusively releasing games on their own platforms. Upon reflection, he realized, “We engage in a similar activity!”
However, if he truly questions the rationale behind exclusivity and its benefits, it may be worth pondering why Xbox has only revealed four undisclosed titles for PS5 today instead of a larger number.
