While fans are eager for a physical edition of Remedy’s horror sequel, Alan Wake 2, it’s worth noting that the game has been performing exceptionally well on digital storefronts, receiving widespread critical acclaim. The title has achieved an impressive milestone, selling a remarkable 1.3 million copies worldwide. This outstanding achievement has solidified its position as the fastest-selling title in the history of the Finnish firm. By the end of December 2023, it had already sold one million units. This suggests that word-of-mouth has continued to be positive in the first two months of 2024.
“We are pleased with the initial sales of Alan Wake 2,” stated CEO Tero Virtala in a press release. The price point has remained consistently high, and the game has already managed to recoup a substantial portion of its development and marketing expenses. We will strive to further enhance the game to cater to our loyal fanbase and entice new players, ensuring its continued success in terms of sales. The developer is currently in the process of creating two paid, downloadable expansions for the title.
Virtala mentioned that the success of its sequel has allowed for more investment in upcoming projects. “Condor, Control 2, and the remakes of Max Payne 1 and 2 have all benefited from the additional resources freed up by Alan Wake 2. We anticipate these projects to make significant progress in the first half of 2024.” We have two well-established franchises: Control and Alan Wake, which are intricately connected within the Remedy Connected Universe. Expanding and growing these franchises will be a crucial aspect of our future.
