For fans of Terry Bogard, Ryo Sakazaki, and other beloved SNK heroes will have something to look forward to at EVO this year. Earlier today, Atlus USA confirmed via their Twitter that indeed, the fast approaching The King of Fighters XIV will be making an appearance at EVO 2016.
The world’s largest fighting game event just got a whole lot bigger, because SNK and ATLUS are bringing THE KING OF FIGHTERS XIV to @EVO!

That’s not all, however. Atlus will not just be showcasing their upcoming title, but also hosting a King of Fighters side tournament on Saturday, July 16. Players will have the opportunity to get a feel for the game on Friday before entering, and those who place in the top three will earn some very appealing cash rewards. Saturday’s events will also feature an SNK developer panel.
The King of Fighters XIV has been a popular series for fans of all SNK games, featuring characters from franchises such as Fatal Fury and Art of Fighting. However, Atlus will have to have a strong showing at EVO if they expect their game to compete with some of the other stellar fighting games to have come out in the last year, including Street Fighter V and Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator. As the first King of Fighters game to come out in over five years, fans will be expecting some major gameplay improvements.
For those of us not lucky enough to make it to Las Vegas for this year’s EVO competition, The King of Fighters XIV will be out on August 23rd in North America, and August 26th in Europe. The game will be available exclusively on the Playstation 4.
