The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences has revealed that Hideo Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro will be joining up once again to give the Keynote Address at the 2016 DICE Summit. Whenever these two get together it has people hoping that it will result in them revealing a new collaboration or even some new version of the cancelled Silent Hills, but so far nothing of the like has happened. The speech is set to be a moderated interview with the two men, which will be hosted by Geoff Keighley. The event will be taking place on February 18, which will also include people like Fallout 4’s Todd Howard and comedian Pete Holmes.
The announcement for the Keynote Address at the 2016 DICE Summit is as follows: “In a session titled “A Conversation with Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro,” these master storytellers will offer insight into their creative vision and the driving forces behind their artistic pursuits. Moderated by longtime video game host and producer Geoff Keighley, this conversation will revisit some of their fondest memories from their own individual careers as well as some of the pivotal moments from each other’s work that remain a constant source of inspiration.”
While it remains to be seen what comes of the interview of Guillermo Del Toro and Hideo Kojima, hopefully Keighley presses them for more information about future collaborations. What they had going with Silent Hills is far too good to just give up on, and it would be great if they were able to work on something else that is in a similar style. They wouldn’t be able to use the Silent Hill name and setting due to it still being owned by Konami, but those could easily be switched out for a different name and similar setting.
