Dissidia Final Fantasy has been available to play in Japanese arcades since last month, with the popular fighting series making a comeback after being absent since the first two games released on PSP several years ago. While the game features a lot of characters that were revealed one-by-one leading up to the game’s launch, more characters will be added to the game as time goes on. The first character that will be added to the game post-launch is none other than Final Fantasy Tactics’ Ramza, though the exact time frame of when he will be added to the game is still up in the air. Square Enix is simply promising that he will be added to the game “soon.”
This is big news for the Dissidia Final Fantasy series, as it marks the first time that Ramza has ever been included in any of the games. Square Enix has gone on record saying that they intend to add additional characters to the game at a rate of one character per every one and a half to two months. So far the developers have been focusing on characters that have been a part of the core games in the series, but now that they have started dipping into the spin-offs with Ramza from Final Fantasy Tactics it opens the door to an even bigger pool of characters to potentially include in the game.
While the first two Dissidia Final Fantasy games launched only on PSP, this new game is currently arcade-only and releases of it on consoles have not been confirmed as of this time. However, when the game was initially revealed it was running on PlayStation 4 hardware and the developers have never ruled out the game coming to PlayStation 4 at some point, so I wouldn’t be surprised for a console release to pop up sooner or later.
