Good news for fans who like arcade racers, as a release date for Trackmania Turbo has finally been revealed. The game is set to launch next month and will be continuing on the long-running racing franchise that began in 2003. This time around the game will include a Trackbuilder that allows players to make however many tracks they want to with all kinds of crazy design possibilities, or just play one of the 200 tracks that are included within the game itself. There are also 4 different driving styles that these 200 courses adhere to, which are Rollercoaster Lagoon, International Stadium, Canyon Grand Drift and Valley Down & Dirty.
Trackmania Turbo was originally set to launch last year, though Ubisoft decided to delay the game in order to improve it. As for exactly what they were aiming to improve, they said that, “During the additional months, we plan to enhance the campaign and the game’s interface. Since multiplayer is such a strong component of the Trackmania experience, we also plan to continue improving Trackmania Turbo’s multiplayer modes. With updated multiplayer modes comes more multiplayer testing. The extra time will give us an opportunity to make sure that the online infrastructure is stable and that the online experience is a smooth one.”
They go on to mention that they are also looking to incorporate an extra feature to challenge your friends on the tracks that you made, which they hope will keep gamers playing the game longer than they would have otherwise. The Trackbuilder was also expanded upon while also making it more accessible and user-friendly, ensuring that more people can easily create some crazy tracks without feeling overwhelmed or bored by the task. These various improvements will certainly be going a long way to ensure that Trackmania Turbo doesn’t crash and burn out of the gate. The game is set to launch on March 25 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, though the game will also support Oculus Rift and PlayStation VR when those devices are released.
