While Metal Gear Online has been available to enjoy in all its glory in the console versions of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, the popular online component was delayed on PC to ensure that everything ran properly. The wait took a little longer than expected, but today is the day that PC gamers can finally get a taste of Metal Gear Online. The multiplayer mode had just entered the beta phase last week, though everything appeared to turn out well enough during that time and resulted in Konami giving the go ahead for the beta launch despite some minor setbacks.
Here’s a snippet from the Steam page announcement provided by Konami: “Given the right platform, the right game, any player can be shaped into an online player. The Beta has officially concluded and the game is now available for launch. We took in a lot of feedback and made a few key adjustments. After some initial hiccups we’re going forward guns at the ready. However that doesn’t mean we’ve stopped development, quite the contrary. Just like the previously released console versions of MGO, we’ll be integrating new updates to the game to improve the experience and add content. Building the future and keeping MGO alive are one and the same thing.”
To make matters even better for those who missed out on the PC beta for Metal Gear Online, Konami is adding an extra incentive to get more people to try MGO out during the launch period. If you hop into the online mode and play at least one match between 1/19 and 1/26 you will be rewarded with 3000 Gear Points, which go towards customizing your characters look and loadout. Konami also reaffirms to the fans that they will continue to support Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain throughout 2016, with more updates and content to make the experience even better.
