The Japanese Bishōjo Visual Novel Libra of the Vampire Princess is making an attempt to sink its teeth into the western market with its current Kickstarter campaign for an English release of the game that is running until 20th January 1:04 AM CET. With 13 days to go its Kickstarter campaign has already managed to raise over 90.000$ out of it’s 125.000$ goal needed for them to translate and localize the game to the western market.
The story in Libra of the Vampire Princess is centered around a young man named Shuma Kusanaki who one day learns that he has vampire blood running through his veins and after being bitten by the over 2000 years old vampire Iris he himself becomes in part vampire. After that, one weird girl after another enters his life creating a classic bishōjo setting with colorful and young looking female characters for the reader to choose in between in this 50+ hours visual novel filled with moe and the feeling of chūnibyō.
According to the team behind Libra of the Vampire Princess, XERO, one of the wishes with this Kickstarter, beside funding the project, is to make it easier for western fans of the genre to enjoy new Japanese visual novels closer to their initial release in Japan. This would be achieved both by providing faster localization and by having the western audience in consideration during the creation of the visual novel. According to it’s Kickstarter page backers of this project can expect the game to arrive by November 2016 and it will ship anywhere in the world. The project comes with several reward tiers with the base tier with the digital game costs 35$. Other things that can be added as add-ons or with higher reward tiers includes dakimakura covers, t-shirts, a blanket, amongst other things. One lucky backer can even receive a custom made replica of the mystical ring owned by the main character!
It’s up to backers now to make this project become a reality by helping to kickstart it. If you want the adorable vampire girls from Libra of the Vampire Princess to invade the western market with an English release, put in some lifeblood into the project on its Kickstarter campaign before it ends January 20th!
