We knew that Nintendo’s latest mobile game was coming very soon, but it turns out that the doctor came in sooner than expected. While originally slated to launch on July 10th, today Dr. Mario World is available to play on iOS and Android devices a full day early.
This is of course a nice surprise for those who were anticipating the release, though this move of releasing the game early is actually a method that developers have used in the past. Whenever a game is expected to have a big audience, developers try to do everything that they can to lighten the server load to avoid and major launch issues. Niantic even did a similar thing with Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, learning from their mistakes with Pokemon GO’s bug-riddled launch.
For those unfamiliar with the game, Dr. Mario World is a free-to-play title that plays exactly how long-time fans of the series remember. It is a match-3 puzzle game where you have to match capsules with viruses to make them disappear. Mario isn’t the only playable character in the game, as players will also be able to control Peach, Bowser and other beloved characters from the series.
Dr. Mario World is available now on both iOS and Android devices.
