Fans have been waiting a long time for the latest entry in the Dragon Quest series to makes its way west, with Dragon Quest 11 launching in Japan last year. Now Square Enix has finally released the official western release date for both the PS4 and PC versions of the game, revealing that it will release on September 4th.
It sounds like the wait is going to be worth it, as the western version of the game will actually feature content not included in the original. The following is an overview:
“In addition to delivering over 100 hours of content, the Western release of DRAGON QUEST XI will also feature several upgrades and enhancements that were not included in the Japanese release, including:
- English Voiceover
- Draconian Quest, a hard mode that offers additional challenges for more experienced players.
- Overhauled Menus & UI, with graphical enhancements and more intuitive navigation.
- Camera Mode, allowing players to take in views of the beautiful landscape, character renders and ferocious monsters in detail.
- A New Dash Function and many other system enhancements such as improved character and camera movement”
You really can’t blame fans for being excited about the latest installment in the series, especially considering all of the positive buzz it has received. Japanese gaming publication gave the game a perfect score of 40/40 when it reviewed the game last year, which is truly impressive. You also have the fact that the series is picking up steam in the west, with the likes of Dragon Quest Heroes and Dragon Quest Builders both doing well.
The important thing to know here is that the platforms that the game is going to be available on are slightly different compared to Japan. The game released in Japan on PlayStation 4 and 3DS, whereas western audiences will be getting it on PlayStation 4 and PC.
