We recently learned that the Xbox One console exclusive State of Decay 2 will finally release this May, giving the console another much-needed exclusive that it has lacked for a long time. Now we’re getting substantial footage from the game, this time getting a whopping 25 minutes that shows off the game’s co-op gameplay.
This new footage comes via IGN, which you can check out at the bottom of this post. For those unfamiliar with the game, State of Decay 2 is essentially an open-world zombie survival game. Players need to build and fortify a base in order to fend off the zombies, while also improving their characters and manage resources to survive. An RPG progression system is in place to give it longevity, though it will also include player choice that comes with “lasting consequences.”
The following is a brief overview of the game’s setting:
“Small-Town America, one year from today. The dead have risen, and civilization has fallen. Even the military couldn’t stop the zombies, and now humanity stands on the brink of extinction. It’s up to you to gather survivors and build a community, explore your lasting legacy, and redefine what it means to survive.”
State of Decay 2 will launch for both Xbox One and PC on May 22nd, but those who elect to purchase the Ultimate Edition will be able to play four days earlier on May 18th. The Ultimate Edition comes with a free Xbox One copy of State of Decay: Year One Survival Edition along with the “Independence Pack” and “Daybreak Pack” DLC for the game. Be sure to check out the new co-op gameplay below.
