There have been some lucky people in certain regions of the world that have been able to play Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp prior to its official launch, but now we know the global launch is coming very soon. The official Animal Crossing Twitter account has revealed that Pocket Camp will release for iOS and Android on November 22.
For anyone who is familiar with the series, Pocket Camp will offer gameplay that is very similar to that of the previous games in the series. The main difference is that it has been simplified somewhat for mobile devices, and the free-to-play payment model means that there are some in-app purchases available for those who want to speed up the process for certain tasks.
While the 3DS’ New Leaf had the player taking the roll of town mayor, Pocket Camp has players taking the roll of camp manager. You show up at an empty camp site and are asked by Isabelle to run the place and make it great. You’ll be able to do things like craft furniture, amenities and more, as well perform other series staples like fishing, bug catching and gathering fruit. Of course, you’ll also be interacting with other campers that you can grow your friendship with by helping them with tasks.
Despite Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp being a free-to-play mobile game, it actually seems like it’s going to be a pretty solid entry in the series. Those who have gotten their hands on the game prior to the official launch have had mostly positive things to say about it, with many agreeing that it offers the series experience that fans were hoping for. It may not be the next console installment that everyone has been begging for following the fantastic New Leaf, but this should do in the meantime.
