The original model of the Xbox One is no more, as Microsoft has now ceased manufacturing of the console. The company will now only be developing the Xbox One S as its standard Xbox One console, along with the upcoming Xbox One X which is the more powerful (and more expensive) alternative.
This information was confirmed by Microsoft, saying that “As is typical for the console industry, we stopped manufacturing the original Xbox One when we introduced Xbox One S.” It makes sense that the original version of the console would eventually be phased out, especially when there’s an improved version of it going for the same price with the Xbox One S.
The original version of the Xbox One launched back in November of 2013, giving it just under a solid 3 years on the market before the Xbox One S launched. The original Xbox One models are finally running out of stock at retailers worldwide, and those empty shelves will not be replenished.
Xbox One S is smaller and quieter when compared to the standard Xbox One model, while also having a better CPU and support for HDR. However, those who are looking for a substantial upgrade over the Xbox One will want to take a look at the Xbox One X, which will become the most powerful console on the market when it launches later this year. Xbox One X will launch on November 7th and will cost $499.
