Gamescom 2017 is kicking off next week, and lots of big announcements are expected to happen. One of those is anticipated to be the pre-orders of the Xbox One X, especially considering that we’ve been getting leaks claiming that they will be detailed during Gamescom.
Now another bit of info has surfaced that lends more legitimacy to the leaks we got recently. The latest info comes from The Verge’s Tom Warren, who claimed on Twitter that the Xbox One X pre-orders will be going live this Sunday right after Microsoft’s press briefing. This was followed by promotional emails from Microsoft’s retail partners that also claim that the pre-orders will be going live on Sunday.
It looks like now all we’re waiting for is an official announcement from Microsoft, which will more than likely be coming during their press conference during Gamescom. The cat may have been let out of the bag already, but they’re unlikely to officially confirm one of their big announcements prior to the briefing. It’s a bummer that the surprise was spoiled, but these kind of leaks happen all the time and are really hard to avoid.
Xbox’s Gamescom Live Show will take place on August 20th at 3 PM ET, and you can watch it on YouTube and Twitch among other places. It’s likely that we’ll be hearing about more new games that are on the horizon for the Xbox One, as well as more information on backwards compatibility support for original Xbox games that was previously-reported as set to kick off this November. We’ll be sure to bring you the biggest news from the event as soon as possible, so be sure to stay tuned for that.
Xbox One X will launch on November 7th for $499. While it will become the most expensive game console currently on the market, it will also become the most powerful game console on the market. It will be interesting to see how the console is received, as it doesn’t come with any exclusive games and more or less serves as a luxury upgrade to the original Xbox One.
