While Rime launched for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC earlier this year, there was a delay in the release of the Nintendo Switch version due to the console being new. While the game’s release is still a few months away, we at least have a release date for the Switch version.
The game will be coming to Nintendo’s new console on November 14th in the USA, and November 17th in Europe. The game will be available to download digitally through the eShop, as well as physically at retailers in a special edition. The digital version costs $29.99, but the physical version costs $10 more at $39.99. The steeper price for the physical edition drew some backlash from fans when originally announced, but now the physical version also includes a download code for the game’s original score.
Rime is definitely a unique game, as it has been described as something that mixes The Legend of Zelda and The Last Guardian. While not everyone was crazy about the game when it launched in May, it still garnered positive reviews overall. Most loved the game’s art style and soundtrack, while also noting that it was lacking in the puzzle and story department. The following is an official description:
“A land of discovery stretches out before you. Explore the beautiful yet rugged world of RiME, a single-player puzzle adventure. In RiME, you play as a young boy who has awakened on a mysterious island after a torrential storm. You see wild animals, long-forgotten ruins and a massive tower that beckons you to come closer. Armed with your wits and a will to overcome—and the guidance of a helpful fox—you must explore the enigmatic island, reach the tower’s peak, and unlock its closely guarded secrets.”
It sounds like the Switch version of the game will be identical to the others, as there was no exclusive content or features detailed in the announcement. Either way, Switch fans will still be happy to get their hands on it this November.
