It won’t be long now until Studio Wildcard’s Ark: Survival Evolved exits early access, with its full launch finally set to happen next month. The game had been available to purchase for $30 in its early access form, but now that the game is nearly complete the price has just been doubled by the developer.
If you go on the game’s Steam page you will find that the game now costs $60, which is something that fans knew would be happening once it was out of early access. However, we’re still about a month away from the game’s official launch and the game technically is still in early access, so it’s interesting to see the price hike happen so soon. The developer said on Twitter that this move was made “to ensure retail parity for the upcoming launch.”
The game most recently received a big update that brought the game to v260 on PC, which added things like a new saber model, host options and a lot more. It has been one of many updates that the game regularly receives, which is all being done in an effort to get the game as polished as possible for its launch next month. The updates typically roll out faster on PC than they do on consoles, so it remains to be seen if this will impact which full version of the game is superior at launch.
“As a man or woman stranded naked, freezing and starving on the shores of a mysterious island called ARK, you must hunt, harvest resources, craft items, grow crops, research technologies, and build shelters to withstand the elements,” reads the game’s description. “Use your cunning and resources to kill or tame & breed the leviathan dinosaurs and other primeval creatures roaming the land, and team up with or prey on hundreds of other players to survive, dominate… and escape!”
Ark: Survival Evolved is set to launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on August 8th.
