Developer Metalhead Software has announced that their arcade baseball game called Super Mega Baseball 2 will be launching this September, with the game apparently needing a bit more polish that prevented it from meeting its original mid-2017 launch window. While a specific release date for the title was not given, it will release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
Fans of the first game will be glad to know that the sequel will follow largely the same formula, though there are some notable tweaks that are being made to take things to the next level. The biggest change comes in the game’s art style, as it now has a more mature look. Everything is still very lighthearted and silly looking, but there is definitely a shift here that fans will notice.
The game is also set to feature more depth than the first game did, with customization being expanded upon greatly. The developer has confirmed that players will be able to create their own leagues, the amount of teams in the league, the amount of divisions and the amount of conferences. For those who don’t want to micromanage every single aspect of the league, the game will automatically fill out the remaining slots with teams that are well-balanced.
Adding to the customization, each team can be tweaked with custom logos, colors, jersey styles and a lot more. You will also be able to customize the individual players as you could in the first game, though things have obviously been taken up a notch for the sequel. More information on the intricacies will be coming closer to the game’s launch, so be sure to stay tuned for that.
It remains to be seen if we’ll get more information on the game around E3, but in the meantime be sure to check out the game’s art reveal trailer below.
