Yesterday we finally learned that the Call of Duty series’ return to WWII was really happening. After many leaks, Activision confirmed the setting and promised a worldwide reveal next week. However, some of the juicy details have already been let out of the bag thanks to a big leak. The information should definitely get old school CoD fans excited.
We’re Heading To Normandy
First up is the game’s setting, which the leak claims “returns to its roots with Call of Duty: WWII–a breathtaking experience that redefines World War II for a new gaming generation.” Players will be landing in Normandy on D-Day and go on to battle across several iconic locations. Combat is being described as “classic” for the series, and the bonds of camaraderie will also play a big role in the game’s narrative. This will be delivered through “bold, lifelike visuals” that are sure to impress.
Boots On The Ground
Fans will be happy to know that this is all entirely boots on the ground. Thankfully, they didn’t find a way to sneak in jetpacks or wall running through some kind of time portal. The same will go for the game’s multiplayer, with the grounded combat taking place across many of World War II’s locations. The leak also teases “exciting new ways to interact and socialize with their friends and the Call of Duty community.”
Standalone Co-Op Story
Perhaps most interesting to hear is that the game will include a co-operative mode that comes with its own standalone story. You’ll be able to play with friends through this “next-level standalone game experience full of unexpected, adrenaline-pumping moments.”
Private Beta & Release Date
Finally, the leak confirms that the game’s release date will be November 3rd, keeping the release in the series’ typical release month of November. Also, those who pre-order the game will get access to a private beta, but details weren’t given for that. Call of Duty: WWII will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
