The Hot Shots Golf series is set to make a comeback soon, with the New Hot Shots Golf in development for PlayStation 4. While we’re still waiting on its release date in the west, today it has been revealed that the game will launch in Japan on August 31st. A new trailer was also released, which you can check out at the bottom of this post.
There will be three editions of the game that will be available for purchase at launch in Japan, which are the physical/digital standard editions along with the Course Collection Special Pack that is digital-only. The standard editions both cost 5,900 yen, whereas the Course Collection Special Pack costs 9,200 yen. It remains to be seen whether or not these same 3 editions will launch in other regions at comparable prices, though more information is likely coming soon.
As for what you get with each edition of the game, those who elect to purchase the standard edition early will get a 20th anniversary commemorative course. This is also included in the Special Pack, as well as another anniversary course, a cat costume, a premium cart and the season pass that will bring additional courses to the game post-launch. Another rabbit costume will come as an early purchase bonus for all editions of the game.
The Hot Shots Golf series is one of the oldest ones that PlayStation has, with the first game getting its launch all the way back in 1997. It spawned numerous sequels for years after that, though the last game in the series was Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational in 2012. It will be great to see the series back in action soon, and hopefully it will provide PlayStation 4 fans enough of a reason to check it out. Check out the new Japanese trailer for the game below, and be sure to stay tuned for when we get more information on a western release.
