Bungie had been teasing an announcement for Destiny 2 recently, and today the curtain has officially been pulled back. The developer released the game’s official trailer showing off much of the game’s story, while also giving a release date. Just as the previous leaks suggested, the game will arrive on September 8th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
As for what we learn from the trailer, the video once again focuses on the character of Cayde-6 as the attack on the Last City is explained, which seems to be the focus of the sequel. There’s definitely plenty of action to see in the video that looks great, as well as it giving a look at many of the game’s characters. The only issue is that there’s no actual gameplay shown, as we’ll have to wait a little longer until we truly see the game in action. The trailer is called “Rally the Troops,” which you can check out at the bottom of this post.
The confirmation that the game is in fact coming to PC will be great news for PC gamers to hear, as the first game was strangely never released on the platform. Pre-orders for the PC version are already live, which you can check out by clicking right here.
Bungie’s CEO, Pete Parsons, said that “The past three years have been incredibly inspiring and rewarding for Bungie. To know that millions of players around the world have forged lasting Destiny memories and even made it their hobby is truly humbling and we can’t wait to continue the journey. We are looking forward to sharing a fresh, inviting story, and with the upcoming Destiny 2 Beta slated for this summer, we are eager to get feedback from millions of players around the world who will get a glimpse of the new adventures that will unfold for all of us. Together, with our partners at Activision, we are thrilled to get Destiny 2 in the hands of players in September.”
Destiny 2 will launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on September 8th, with all pre-orders giving players access to an upcoming beta. The gameplay reveal will happen on May 18th, but for now you can check out the newest trailer below.
