Gearbox Software just released Battleborn’s weekly update. It showcased a bevy of news including patch notes, plans for new content, and a brand new community event taking place this weekend. The update also included a community spotlight on forum moderator Psychichazard (read the interview here).
The event is called Play w/ The Devs, and will be exactly what it sounds like. Gearbox has enlisted a group of five Twitch streamers to host Battleborn developers. Those pairings will be inviting viewers to join in their matches. The event is being held at various times between 12-6PM on Saturday, June 25th (full schedule). If you can’t play you can join in by watching the streams and commenting in the chat. In conjunction with the event, Gearbox is enabling Double Credits for faster access to Loot Boxes and a SHIFT code for two new skins from June, 24-27.
The patch notes, or “Hot Fixes,” focused on game balancing in a variety of areas. Legendary item, Oath of the Sustained had its Lifesteal percentage reduced. The character select timer has been adjusted to 90 seconds for PvP maps. The M3.Shepherds have been temporarily removed from Incursion matches to fix bugs. Additionally the Lorrian Purse Cutter, Vigilance Link, and One-4-All Shield Array gear have also all been disabled temporarily. Ouch! Balancing is one thing, but removing mechanics from the game to get it done is rough (here’s to hoping it’ll all be worth it in the end). This weeks patch was implemented at noon on Thursday, June 23.
What’s coming next for Battleborn, you ask? New PvP maps are promised to arrive in a “couple weeks” (start the hype). The new Broadcaster mode is set to launch next month letting commentators stream gameplay using the third person camera. Finally, Gearbox is working on adding in-game reporting to flag disruptive players and tweaking Versus Matchmaking to optimize the game play experience.
