Develop:Brighton, Europe’s leading video game developers conference, has just announced its list of the ten shortlisted games that are to appear at their sixth Indie Showcase, sponsored by Unity.
Following the conference on the cutting edge of game development tech on 12 July, the Indie Showcase runs on 13 and 14 July, highlighting games picked by a judging panel that takes the categories of graphics, gameplay, technology achievement and originality into consideration. Attendees will be able to play all ten shortlisted games on 14 July, where the judges will pick a defining winner, as well as announcing the game most voted for by the expo-goers through the Develop:Brighton app.
Previously shortlisted games include critically acclaimed titles such as Gunpoint and Action Henk! on PC, as well as That Dragon, Cancer. This year also promises high caliber games, according the Adam Green, chairman of the selection panel. “Once again this year, the quality of games submitted took a huge leap forwards”. VR is also on the rise at the expo. “It was fantastic in particular to see so many VR submissions, and the variety of new experiences developers are creating with this new technology.” Managing director of Tandem Events, Andy Lane, added, “Since launching the Indie Showcase six years ago we have always had an incredible response and the quality of games is a real testament to the creativity of indie developers.”
