Host Tyra Banks and judges Len Goodman, Derek Hough, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli are all set to return.
ABC’s long-running Dancing With the Stars will hit a milestone in the fall.
The network has renewed the competition series for a 30th cycle to air in the 2021-22 season. Among unscripted shows on the broadcast networks, only CBS’ Survivor and The Amazing Race have produced more seasons.
Host Tyra Banks (who replaced long-time host Tom Bergeron this season) and judges judges Len Goodman, Derek Hough, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli are all slated to return for the 30th season.
The show is coming off a fall run that saw its same-day ratings rise in the key ad demographic of adults 18-49. It was up about 9 percent in the demo, while its seven-day rating was even with the fall 2019 run — no small accomplishment in a time when many shows have fallen by double digit percentages from last season. Dancing With the Stars averaged 7.09 million viewers over seven days in the fall, down a little from 7.84 million in 2019 but in the upper third of ABC’s primetime series this season.
The Los Angeles production arm of BBC Studios produces Dancing With the Stars. Andrew Llinares and Banks are the executive producers.
DWTS is the third unscripted show ABC has renewed for 2021-22. Mini-golf competition Holey Moley scored a two-season pickup in February, and the network will also air a fall cycle of The Bachelorette later this year in addition to its usual summer run.
