The round robin stage of the European, American and South-East Asian The International 6 Main Qualifiers just ended so we can say congratulations to Team Secret, Evil Geniuses and TNC Gaming for securing a spot for the biggest tournament of the year. We will have to wait until tomorrow for the Chinese Qualifier and the direct elimination stage of the other three qualifiers to finally know who is going to battle it out in Seattle next August.
Europe
Team Secret had a great day one yesterday, only dropping a game against Virtus Pro and winning four, finishing 4-1. Today they had quite a rough day, going 2-2, winning against Flipsid3 Tactics and a crucial game against Empire but losing against Escape and Fantastic Five. Team Secret had then to play tie-breaker matches against both Escape and Fantastic Five again, to determine the first place team for the round robin and the direct qualification for TI6 (the three teams all had 6 wins and 3 losses). Winning both matches, the all-star team have secured their place and will fly to Seattle soon. Escape, Fantastic Five, Alliance and Ad Finem will play tomorrow in a double elimination bracket to secure the last 2 European spots for TI6. Vega Squadron and Team Empire have heavily deluded the expectations, concluding respectively 7th and 8th.
Americas
Evil Geniuses went 4-0 yesterday and only dropped a game against Complexity today. They then proceeded to beat Complexity in the tie-breaker match pretty easily and are now officially qualified for TI6. The teams that tomorrow are going to play in the double elimination bracket are going to be: Complexity, Digital Chaos, Void Boys and FDL. No surprises when it comes to the eliminated teams: Vultur and DrinkingBoys placed 6th and 7th and won’t have the chance to compete again tomorrow to make it in the final two spots.
South-East Asia
The Filipino team TNC Gaming won the round robin of the South-East Asia Qualifier and will be going to TI6 directly. The team came up from the Open Qualifiers and managed to get to the first place of the SEA Main Qualifier after a 7-2 run and two wins in the tie-breaker matches against Fnatic and Execration. Notable the presence of Jimmy “DeMoN” Ho in the TNC roster: the American, Veteran of the Dota2 pro scene since TI1, is considered one of the most reckless and talented players out there and he definitely contributed to TNC unexpected win. Fnatic, Execration, Warriors.Gaming Unity and White Fries Gaming are the teams that will play for the remaining two spots. Incredible upsets in this region as well: Rave and Mineski finished 6th and 7th and will be going home empty handed.
